Should that card go to a foundation yet?

A red five can have two jobs

Suppose 5♥ is eligible for its foundation. A black 4 is still exposed in another column, covering a face-down card. Keeping 5♥ in the tableau may let that 4 move and uncover the hidden card. Sending the 5 away first could delay that reveal if no other red 5 is accessible.

Ask three questions

Use a short dependency check rather than a rigid rule that all foundations must have identical heights. Equal heights alone do not tell you which lower cards are still blocked.

1. Is an opposite-colour card one rank lower still waiting for this landing place?
2. Is another equivalent landing place accessible?
3. Can this game return foundation cards to the tableau, or can I undo this move?

Early cards and later cards are different

An Ace is not a landing place for a lower tableau rank, so moving it often removes a blocker. Higher ranks take more thought. Once the relevant lower cards are safely on foundations, preserving a landing place for them no longer has the same value.

Do not infer safety only from what is visible. A needed lower card may still be in the stock or face down. If you have not seen it, leave that uncertainty in your reasoning.

Let a finish be a finish

Near the end, foundations can grow quickly when every remaining dependency has been resolved. Small Break can offer automatic completion after finding a valid route. The prompt is useful when you want to enjoy the result instead of performing repetitive final moves.
